‘How Nigeria can become global producer of cyber security professionals’

A Nigeria-based cyber security expert, Omowunmi Oyetinbo, has disclosed how the nation can be one of the highest producers of cyber security professionals in the world and earn large foreign exchange, as a way to tow the country from out of the doldrums. 

According to Oyetinbo, Nigeria can become a giant in the cyber security global industry, if the government, relevant private organizations and individuals are ready partner to invest more in the requisite training and provision of technology infrastructures to empower the teeming Nigerian youth as cyber security professionals.

Oyetinbo, who is the Head, Operations, Wellspring Consulting, made this known while speaking with newsmen at the sidelines of a one-day cyber security seminar held in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

While harping on the private-public partnership in the specialized ICT sector, she described cyber security as the practice of defending computers, servers, mobile devices, electronic systems, networks, and data from malicious attacks, stressing that “Nigeria faces a critical shortage of cyber security professionals while there is high demand for the professionals globally”. 

She noted that her firm is well grounded in training cyber security professionals which would open doors to endless career possibilities in the ever evolving tech-industry, both locally and globally. 

“Wellspring consulting is set to partner various organisations to sponsor young Nigerians, especially young women in building a career in cyber security. 

“The firm offers training and free global certification with a globally ranked IT security organization, she said. 

Oyetinbo, however, assured that any investment or training in cybersecurity would yield bountifully for Nigeria.
