The Registrar and Chief Executive of the National Examination Council (NECO), Prof Dantani Wushishi has revealed how the examination body has been able to surmount the security challenges in the country to successfully conduct its examinations.
Speaking at the 2025 annual staff productivity award ceremony at the headquarters of the organization in Minna, yesterday, Professor Wushishi said a robust collaboration with various security agencies in the country that provide NECO with information has helped greatly in the hitch-free movement of its staff and the conduct of its examinations across the country.
The NECO staff productivity award is an annual event that recognizes and celebrates exceptional contributions by staff of the examination body and other stakeholders.
According to the Registrar, the productivity award is to boost the morale and motivate productivity of staff with categories for excellence in teaching, administration, research and innovation.
He said the award is intended to inspire healthy completion and continuous improvement, fostering a culture of excellence in NECO and the nation at large
“We firmly believe that publicly acknowledging and rewarding exemplary and exceptional performance of staff and stakeholders is a veritable strategy for enhancing the quality and effectiveness of our educational services in Nigeria,” he stated.
He pointed out that the productivity award is also a moment to strengthen the motivation that drives productivity, quality service delivery and continuous improvement in the conduct of examinations.
He maintained that this year’s award, like the ones before it, was to reorganise exceptional contributions and cultivate the culture of healthy competition.
He stated further that one of NECO’s most enduring strengths is the commitment to continuous improvement, adding, “this is why we consistently strive to enhance processes, strengthen accountability and ensure that our examinations remain credible and trusted.
“Staff productivity is not simply about completing tasks, it is about delivering quality outcomes with integrity, timeliness and measurable impact.
“As we reward excellence today, we also reinforce the responsibility of every staff member to contribute to the success of NECO’s mandate, whether in the office, in the field or in support roles.”
He reminded the staff that as the council presents certificates and rewards them, they are expected to embrace the lessons of the ceremony which he said includes perseverance and the pursuit of excellence, self-improvement, teamwork and unity, as well as pride in their responsibilities, no matter how small they may appear.
