A resident of Millennium City in Kaduna, Muizat Yusuf, has recounted how armed men invaded their home at night and abducted her parents and younger brother.
The bandits were said to have struck at about 11:30pm on Sunday, February 8, abducting seven persons from two families in the latest attack in the area.
Thefollowing day, residents of Danhonu II community, the affected area in New Millennium City in the Chikun area of the state, staged a peaceful protest at the Divisional Police Headquarters over recurring kidnap attacks in the area.
The protesters demanded urgent security intervention to halt the wave of abductions in their neighborhoods, having witnessed abductions of residents, including three journalists in the recent past: one of them, Umar Usman Iyale still in captivity after one month of abducting him despite ransom payment.
In the latest attack, Muizat said she hid during the attack and watched as the gunmen led her family members away into the darkness, leaving her as the only immediate member of the household at home.
Those abducted were her mother, Lateeefat Yusuf (née Oyetunji), a teacher with the Kaduna State Ministry of Education; her father, Yahaya Yusuf, proprietor of a community-focused model school; and her 21-year-old brother, Abdul Gafar Yusuf.
