Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Fatai Tijani, said the time is up for kidnappers, armed robbers, as the command arrested over 60 suspects. He told the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Conference in Abuja: “The command is ready to expose unrepentant criminals in the state.
“The command has recorded remarkable strides within two months in its fight against crime, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and properties. The command has continued to intensify efforts in combating crime through proactive policing, intelligence gathering and swift response to distress calls.
“Henceforth, it will be too hard for hoodlums to carry out their operations. I visited some blackspots and redeployed some tactical team operatives to Lagos-Shagamu Expressway, Lagos-Epe Expressway and Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
“As a result of these sustained operations, the command successfully apprehended 20 suspected criminals for offences ranging from kidnapping, armed robbery, and illegal possession of firearms in connection with a series of criminal activities.
“Officers have been cautioned against the use of torture in conducting investigations on suspects. We have charged some of the suspects to court, while others are under investigation. The achievement of the command is a testament to the hard work and sacrifice of the entire officers and men of the command.
“We apply professionalism, transparency, and unwavering commitment to upholding the rule of Law, which has restored public confidence and improved security. Lagos State has recorded significant milestones in combating violent crimes, dismantling criminal syndicates, fostering community policing and enhancing collaboration with sister security agencies and stakeholders.

“With the cooperation of the citizens and support of the government, the state is calm. The command has updated the professional capacity of officers in line with global policing standards and addressed skill gaps caused by outdated or neglected procedures.
“We have stepped up night patrols, aimed at reinforcing commitment to serving and protecting the community. I have charged officers to stay alert and be proactive in preventing crime and ensuring public safety. Officers should conduct patrol with diligence, respect, courtesy and respect the rights of the citizens.
