How I was sodomised by hotelier –Survivor

By Christopher Oji

A 16 years-old boy  has narrated how he was sodomised by a hotelier at Egbeda area of Lagos.

The minor (name withheld), who narrated is ordeal at a police parade ground in Zone 2, Command, Onikan, Lagos, said that after having carnal knowledge of him through his anus, the suspect, Opara McDonald, Managing Director of Leuven empire hotel and suite at Ejigbo, used a white handkerchief  to wipe  the semen in his anus and warned him seriously that if he told anyone what he experienced he would die.

The survivor who confronted the suspect face -to- face on the police  parade ground ,said he was forced to tell his mother the gory experience after which she raised the alarm.

He said: “ On the fateful day, I was in my room chatting with one of my friends, Balogun ,who told me that there was a deal and I asked him what type of deal and he  told me that  a man would call me to brief me of what to do. He gave me some words I would use when the man would be talking to me.

“Being that Balogun was my class mate, I was not scared, so when the man called me , he told me where to meet him and he  picked me with his vehicle to his house at Egbeda and told me that  he wanted to sleep with me through the anus. I couldn’t resist him, because I was all alone with him and he  forced me and made love to me through the anus, after which he used white handkerchief to wipe the semen.

“When I left his house, Balogun called me to say that he wanted his own share of the money. I told him that the man only gave me  5,000 which was not enough for my transport, but Balogun didn’t believe me as he told me to go back to the man to collect the real payment. I now went back to the man to demand for the real payment. But instead the man paying me more money,he ended up sleeping with me the second time and still gave me another N5,000 making it the total  sum of N10,000 that I collected from him.

“I am still regretting everything that happened.I didn’t know that was the kind of business my friend introduced me to, but I was scared to report him initially, because he warned that if I told anyone what happened he would  kill me , but my conscience would not let me rest.

When i finally  told my mother what I went  through, she raised the alarm and called my father who was on his way to the East,  and my father immediately turned back and took me to Ejigbo police station where the matter was reported.”

However, the survivor’s father, Mr Edozia Christian, who took over the narrative from his son, said: “ I was on my way to the East when my wife called me about the ugly incident, I turned back from my trip and went to Isheri Oshun Police Station to make a report about the incident

“I was given a letter to Mirabel centre, General Hospital , Ikeja, where a test was conducted on him. I wanted to be sure of what happened, so, I asked my son of what transpired between him and the man; he then told me that the hotelier slept with him twice  through his anus .After my son told me what happened, I knew I couldn’t fight it alone, that was why I contacted one of my brothers ,who brought me to Zone 2, where the matter was reported and the man was  arrested.

“Initially, when the police and

I went to his hotel, he escaped and  six of his staff were arrested and they were brought to Zone 2, before he later showed up and he was arrested immediately. At Isheri Oshun Police station, the Divisional  Police Officer, gave me an investigative Police Officer to handle the case for me.

“Unfortunately, the IPO connived with the hotelier and removed some vital information from the case file to favour the suspect, those mention by my  son when he was being interviewed “.

In a swift reaction, the suspect denied the allegation levelled against him by the victim, saying that he knew the boy, but denied sodomizing him:” l do not know where all these things were coming from but my hands are clean. I didn’t sodomize anyone. I don’t have much to say,but I am sure that someone is wrong somewhere”.

However, Zonal Police Public Relations Officer (ZPPRO) CSP Ayuba Umma said the development followed a petition received by the office of the Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Adegoke Fayoade, on January 23, 2025, submitted by Edozie Christian of Isheri-Osun, Lagos, on behalf of his 16-year-old son.

The petition alleged that the suspect, Opara Macdonald, engaged in unlawful sexual acts with the minor at his hotel.

She said upon the  receipt of the petition, the AIG assigned CSP Uba Adams to conduct a discreet investigation into the matter.

“The victim, initially fearful of speaking out due to threats allegedly made by the suspect, confided in his mother. He recounted that Opara Macdonald, warned him that disclosing the incident would result in his losing his sanity. Reassured by his mother of confidentiality by his mother, the victim detailed how the suspect had taken him from the hotel in his vehicle to his residence at 4B, Oshoba Street, Akowonjo-Egbeda, Lagos, where he was forcefully subjected to unlawful sexual acts. Following the incident, the suspect allegedly provided the victim with a bottle of Lucozade Boost and a cash sum of ₦5,000.00.

Upon this revelation, the victim’s parents reported the matter to the Isheri-Osun Police Division. Investigative actions were initiated, but rather than cooperating with law enforcement agent, the suspect refused to honour police invitations and instead, attempted to manipulate the process. Seeking to evade justice, he escalated the matter to the Zone 2 Command headquarters, where he was subsequently apprehended.

To ascertain the veracity of the claims, the victim underwent medical examination at Mirabel Medical Centre. Additionally, a close friend of the victim, who was present at the hotel on the day of the incident, corroborated the allegations. This friend confirmed that the suspect had been engaging in unlawful acts with the victim and had also attempted a similar act with him, which he resisted. He further presented recorded telephone conversations, chat histories, and video evidence filmed by the victims.

The IPO who doctored the statement is in our detention and will soon face disciplinary action”.

According to her, there are many suspects who would  testify against  the suspect in the Court.

She  advised parents to be mindful of where their children go and who they go out with.
