Nigerian singer Johnny Drille has revealed that he met his wife through Mavin Records, saying he might still be single if he had not joined the music company.
The singer made the revelation while discussing his relationship during a recent interview, where he reflected on how he and his wife managed to keep their romance away from the public for several years.
“It’s true now, I met my wife at Mavin,” Johnny Drille said.
According to him, his relationship with his wife began around November or December 2018, but the couple successfully kept it private for nearly five years.
“If not for Mavin, I probably wouldn’t have a wife right now,” he said, joking that he would “probably still” be single.
Johnny Drille said maintaining privacy around the relationship required considerable effort, particularly because they were determined to keep it away from public attention.
“It’s funny, I think about it now and I don’t realise how much work we had to put into just keeping it under wraps for so long,” he said.
The singer explained that while some people close to them were aware of the relationship, the wider public only learned about it in July 2023, by which time the couple had already tied the knot.
“We had gotten married,” he said, adding that the marriage had taken place about a year and seven months before they publicly confirmed their relationship.
Reflecting on their journey, Johnny Drille admitted that keeping their relationship private was not easy but said he remained grateful for how their paths crossed.
“It wasn’t easy keeping it under wraps. But I’m grateful that I met my wife at Mavin,” he added.
