Former Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Dr Uche Samson Ogah, has outlined a strategic blueprint for Nigerian enterprises to navigate and overcome pressing economic uncertainties.
Speaking at a business forum, Ogah warned that operating in isolation is no longer sustainable, emphasising that inter-industry collaboration has transitioned from a strategic choice into a fundamental mechanism for corporate survival.
Ogah, President and Founder of Masters Energy Group, outlined the blueprint in Calabar at a business workshop organised by the Favour Brothers of Uturu, a faith-based business network.
“The time has come for Christians and business people to come together from their various communities,” he told participants.
“We must stop working in silos. If we come together as one, we can impact our communities and grow our businesses. Alone, we will struggle. Together, we survive.”
The former minister said the workshop, which rotates across Nigerian cities, was designed to help members share knowledge, encourage one another, and build businesses that can withstand Nigeria’s current economic realities.
He expressed concern over the plight of small-scale industries, noting that many are struggling because of a lack of government support and worsening insecurity.
“Insecurity is a very big threat to every business,” Ogah said. “When people cannot move freely from one place to another, business cannot thrive. Government must put in more effort to secure lives and property so that people can do business freely.”
He added that while government has a responsibility to create an enabling environment, business owners must also take responsibility by working together, pooling resources, and supporting one another.
“Government policies are general policies,” he said. “But what we are saying is that government should make policies that touch the lives of the people. That is what will help small-scale industries to thrive.”
President of Favour Brothers Uturu, Ogoro Chikwendu Ransome, said they came to Calabar for a workshop and business tour.
He said members gather annually in a selected city as friends to brainstorm, deepen partnerships, and strengthen collaboration.
The Calabar meeting brought together entrepreneurs, professionals, and community leaders to discuss strategies for business growth and community impact.
Participants resolved to strengthen networking among members and expand the Favour Brothers initiative.
