A member of the House of Representatives representing Ifelodun/Boripe/Odo-Otin federal constituency of Osun State, Hon. Olusoji Adetunji on Wednesday empowered his constituents with different equipment and cash worth over N150 million.
The items presented at the empowerment programme include hair dryers, deep freezers, fridges, generating sets, fans, motorcycles, grinding machines, sewing machines and cash among others.
The ceremony which attracted key politicians, and traditional rulers from the three Local Government Areas that make up the federal constituency was also attended by the state Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke who was represented by the state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Sunday Bisi.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hon Adetunji said his love for the masses, especially the people of his constituency engendered him to give back to society.
He said the empowerment and intervention fund was aimed at putting laughter on the faces of the people, thereby abolishing poverty among his constituents.
Hon. Adetunji also urged the beneficiaries of the empowerment and intervention fund to make judicious use of the items given to them for their economic benefits.
In his remarks, Governor Adeleke urged other political officeholders at all levels to emulate Hon Adetunji and spread the dividends of democracy to the grassroots for the benefit of the people.
Represented by the state Commissioner for Cooperatives and Empowerment, Hon Bayo Ogungbangbe, Governor Adeleke appreciated the gesture of the federal lawmaker.
The state chairman of the PDP, Hon Bisi in his remarks berated the current administration at the federal level, bemoaning the current economic hardship in the country.
He said the exit of some multinational companies in the country would further jeopardize the country’s economy and thereby urged the federal government to prevent further exit of the multi-national companies.
