Veteran Hollywood star Val Kilmer, known for his role as Iceman in the movie Top Gun, has died at the age of 65.

Kilmer’s passing was confirmed by his daughter Mercedes Kilmer, with the latter revealing to the Associated Press that he died of pneumonia on Tuesday night in Los Angeles.

The movie star was reportedly surrounded by friends and family at the time of his death.

Val Edward Kilmer was born on December 31, 1959, in Los Angeles, California. He had two brothers and was the second child.

The actor starred in a variety of films, including Top Gun (1986), Heat (1995), Batman Forever (1995), The Ghost and the Darkness (1996), Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005), The Snowman (2017), and Top Gun: Maverick (2022).

Kilmer was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2015, and after undergoing a tracheal procedure, his vocal cords were damaged. He subsequently found speaking difficult.

He was one of Hollywood’s highest paid actors of the 1990s.
