Herizon Cup 2026: Bama Nigeria partners with Herizon Sports Initiative

How World Cup 2026 Changed the Value of Nigerian Football Audiences

The Herizon Sports Initiative (HSI) has announced BAMA Nigeria as the Lead Sponsor for the third edition of the Herizon Cup, scheduled to take place on 6 and 7 November 2026 at Bariga Stadium, CMS, Lagos.

The Herizon Cup began in 2024 as the Ibidoyin Aina Cup and has been held annually for the past two years. Following its initial editions, the competition became part of the broader work of Herizon Sports Initiative, founded by Ibidoyin Aina and Sekinat Abubakre, Founder and Co-Founder respectively. HSI was established to address gaps in access, development, and visibility for girls in grassroots sports. Guided by these three core pillars, the organisation works with local coaches, parents, and community leaders to create opportunities for young female athletes to participate in sports, develop their abilities, and gain greater recognition across Lagos.

The partnership with BAMA Nigeria marks an important step towards addressing the funding gap in grassroots women’s football. As Lead Sponsor, BAMA Nigeria will support the Herizon Cup 2026, contributing to the delivery of a tournament designed to provide a better playing experience and greater opportunities for more than 240 young female footballers from eight participating academies.

Commenting on the partnership, Mr. Vincent Egbe, Managing Director of GBFoods, stated:

“I strongly believe that Nigerian women’s football will continue to grow, creating greater opportunities for our girls to compete and thrive on bigger platforms. We must collectively continue to empower, support, and encourage them in every way we can.”

This is why BAMA is delighted to be the Lead Sponsor of Herizon Cup 2026, reaffirming our commitment to youth development and the growth of women’s football in Nigeria.”

The two-day tournament is expected to attract more than 1,000 spectators, alongside community stakeholders and sports scouts. Beyond the competition, the Herizon Cup forms part of HSI’s wider commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for girls through football, leadership development, mentorship, and increased access to the sports industry.

Through the Herizon Cup 2026, HSI continues its work to ensure that young female footballers have more opportunities to play, develop their potential, and gain the recognition they deserve. The partnership with BAMA Nigeria represents an important contribution to that mission and highlights the role corporate partners can play in supporting the future of women’s football in Nigeria.
