Real Madrid have completed the signing of highly rated Ivorian winger Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig in a blockbuster deal worth up to €135 million, making the teenager the most expensive player in the club’s history.
According to Marca, both clubs finalised the agreement on Thursday morning, with the 19-year-old already in Madrid to undergo his medical ahead of the official announcement.
The Spanish giants will pay an initial €125 million for Diomande, while an additional €10 million to €15 million in performance-related bonuses could take the total value of the transfer to €135 million.
The move underlines Real Madrid’s aggressive recruitment drive this summer, with the club’s spending on new signings now exceeding €300 million.
The European champions have also bolstered their squad with the arrivals of Marc Cucurella for €55 million, Carlos Espai for €25 million and Denzel Dumfries for €20 million, while Ibrahima Konaté and Bernardo Silva joined as free agents.
Despite the heavy spending, Real Madrid have significantly offset their transfer outlay through player sales, particularly from academy graduates, generating about €184.5 million in revenue.
Diomande’s arrival is not expected to affect the club’s contract discussions with Brazilian forward Vinicius Junior, whose current deal expires at the end of next season.
Although Arsenal have reportedly expressed strong interest in Vinicius, Marca said negotiations over a new contract with the Brazilian remain ongoing.
