Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck had a controversial moment at the 17th Headies Awards ceremony, which was held at the Eko Convention Centre in Lagos on Sunday.
The hip-hop star, who won the Next Rated award, was accompanied to the stage with his mother and 10 men.
Odumodublvck was cut off midway during his acceptance speech and asked to leave the stage due to time constraints, but the ‘Legolas’ crooner defied the organisers and remained where he was.
In the end, his microphone connection was restored, and Odumodublvck proceeded to finish his speech.
“Against all odds, I have pushed against so many barriers like this. A couple of years back, there were so many feelings we could not express through our music.
“The world world clap us down; ‘you can’t be this,’ or ‘you can’t speak like,’ ‘you can’t do this,’ ‘you can’t release music in this way.’
“Me standing here today is proof that all those things are fallacies. It would only have been possible through my Lord and saviour, Jesus Christ, who has been there for me through thick and thin. Tonight, God has shown that God reigns,” Odumodublvck said.
