Hausa community under Northern Hausa traders in Imo State have appealed to Governor Hope Uzodinma to intervene in the market land tussle between Eze Hausa of Imo and the Hausa Quarters Community in the state.

Chairman of the community, Alhaji Nura Shattima, sought the governor’s intervention when he led his team to the office of the Northern Consensus Movement for Peace Unity Empowerment and Development Initiative (NCNCM) in Kaduna.

They specifically wanted the governor’s intervention by not allowing anybody to tamper with the piece of land which is already a matter of litigation.

“The Northern Hausa community doing business on Quarters Douglas Road believed that only the court has the jurisdiction to determine the rightful owner of the contentious piece of land.

“We are peace-loving people, and therefore, we are appealing to Governor Hope Ozindima to intervene and ensure justice is done. We are equally appealing to security agencies, particularly the police, not to take sides on the issue,” he said.

One of the team members and leaders of Hausa traders in Imo, Sani Ahmad Mai Rago, alleged that their members are being intimidated over the development with some of them arrested but later released.

National President of the Northern Consensus Movement, Dr. Awwal Abdullahi Aliyu, remarked that there is an urgent need for the governor to settle the controversy over the piece of land to give peace a chance.
