The 1,600 pilgrims from Lagos State who participated in the 2026 Hajj in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will begin their return journey to Nigeria on Monday, June 8, according to the Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.
The announcement was made by the Amir-ul-Hajj and Lagos State Commissioner for Home Affairs, Ibrahim Layode, in a statement issued by the Board Secretary, AbdulHakeem Ajomagberin.
According to the statement, the pilgrims will be airlifted back to Nigeria in phases, following the schedule released by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria.
The first batch is expected to depart Saudi Arabia on June 8, while subsequent flights are scheduled for June 10, 11, 12 and 13, barring any unforeseen circumstances.

Layode urged all pilgrims to comply with the approved baggage regulations, which allow two checked bags of 23 kilograms each and one hand luggage of eight kilograms.
He also warned against packing water and other prohibited items, stressing the need for strict adherence to aviation and Hajj guidelines.
The commissioner appealed to pilgrims to remain patient and cooperate with officials throughout the return process, assuring them that adequate arrangements had been made to ensure the successful airlift of all participants back home.
He attributed the success of the 2026 Hajj operation to the support and encouragement of Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat.
Layode also commended the Special Adviser to the Governor on Islamic Matters and Chairman of the 2026 Hajj Ad-hoc Committee, Ahmad Abdullahi Jebe, alongside committee members, officials of the Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Ulamah, Hajj guides and other stakeholders for their dedication and contributions to the smooth conduct of the pilgrimage exercise.
The return flights will mark the final phase of the 2026 Hajj operation for Lagos State pilgrims.
