Gwandu Emir gives traditional titles to human rights activist, Igbo leader, 14 others

The Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Muhammad Illiyasu Bashar, yesterday, conferred traditional titles on a human rights lawyer, Mr. Rilwanu Umar, as Kachalla Gwandu, alongside 15 others.

Emir Bashar, who is also the Chairman of Kebbi State Council of Chiefs, turbaned the awardees in his palace, Birnin Kebbi, in the presence of Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, House of Representatives Deputy Speaker, Idris Wase, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, Majority Leader, APC Kebbi State Governorship candidate, Dr. Nasir Idris, among others.

Barrister Rilwanu Umar was turbaned as Kachalla Gwandu, Professor Chika Umar, Sarkin Sulken Gwandu, Chief Emeka Emeson, Eze Igbo Gwandu II, Alhaji Junaidu Sani Rugga, Ruggan Gwandu, Alhaji Faruku Umar Kuru, Gatan Gwandu, among others.

While addressing the new titleholders, the Emir urged the new titleholders to be dedicated to their duties as the representatives of the Emirate and Nigeria at large.
