A factional state chairman of the All Progress Grand Alliance (APGA), Abia State chapter, Chief Emmanuel Egwu was about two days ago, reportedly abducted in Imo State.

Egwu was said to have been abducted alongside two of his friends, Henry Egesi and another on Thursday afternoon along the Arondizuogu/Okigwe road by gunmen.

Egesi who was reported to have narrated their ordeal to some friends, said they were abducted while driving back to Umuahia from Anambra state where they attended a burial ceremony.

He was quoted as saying they were heading back to Umuahia from Anambra state with two vehicles, a Lexus SUV and a Toyota Hilux van when they ran into some men carrying AK-47 rifles.

He said on sighting the men who were dressed in all-black attire with Biafran insignia racing towards them, they tried to escape but unknown to them, it was an ambush of over 100 men armed with sophisticated weapons.

The victim was reported to have said they alighted from their vehicles and ran into a nearby village, but surprisingly, the gunmen came and march the three of them out from the compound they ran into for refuge and took them into their hideout inside the forest.

“They subjected us to severe punishment, torture and beating and afterward forced us to transfer millions of naira into an O-pay account”, Egesi was quoted to have said.
