The country home of the immediate past member representing Orlu/Orsu/Oru east federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Jerry Alagbaso, has been razed by gunmen.
It was learnt that gunmen stormed the country home of the ex-federal lawmaker at Ihittenasa Orsu, in Orsu council area of Imo State, in the early hours of Tuesday, and set it ablaze. The Director-General, Jerry Alagbaoso Campaign Organisation, Mr. Unamma Olemgbe, who confirmed the incident, said the gunmen attacked the ex-lawmaker’s home late Monday night and looted his personal properties.
Alagbaoso, who represented the Orlu/Orsu/Oru federal constituency of Imo State between 2011and 2023, recently defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), after he lost his Orlu senatorial bid.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, ASP Henry Okoye, said: “The Commissioner of Police condemned the dastardly act in totality and has ordered an intensive manhunt for the arsonists. More so, optimal security operatives of the joint task force have been deployed in Orsu to prevent a similar recurrence.
“Certainly, we will apprehend the hoodlums that are involved, and they will be made to face the full wrath of the law.”
Gunmen had, at the weekend, razed the home of the traditional ruler of Ihitteukwa Orsu, Eze Ezekiel Nwokedi, who is also the chairman of Odimma Orsu Initiative.
