Gunmen murder 35-year old man in Kebbi, abduct wife

Gunmen have killed one Sufiyanu Garba, 35, in his house at Badariya area of Birnin Kebbi, the Kebbi State capital, in the early hours of Friday, while his wife was abducted to an unknown destination.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, SP Bashir Usman, who confirmed the incident in a statement said, the police have started to investigate the incident.

According to him, “the Kebbi State Police Command expressed concern over an unfortunate incident that occurred in the early hours of today, 13th March 2026, in Badariya Area, Birnin Kebbi, which resulted in the death of Sufiyanu Garba, aged 35, and the abduction of his wife.

“Detectives promptly visited the scene and commenced necessary investigations. It was observed that a police checkpoint is situated not far away from the scene of the incident, which could have been informed for rapid response.

“The victim was taken to Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor. His remains have since been deposited at the hospital morgue.

“The Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to take over the case and ensure a thorough and diligent investigation aimed at rescuing the abducted victim and bringing those responsible to justice.”
