Gunmen kill Okada ticket seller in Ado-Ekiti

A middle-aged man working as a ticket seller for the Okada Riders’ Association in Ekiti State was shot and killed by unknown gunmen on Tuesday morning.

The man was reportedly gunned down around Okesa roundabout, near Okesa market in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, where he was assigned to sell tickets to commercial motorcyclists.

It was gathered that the gunmen arrived on a motorcycle, opened fire on the victim, and immediately fled the scene.

The incident caused panic in the area as market men and women, passersby, motorists, and other road users ran for safety.

Speaking on the incident, the Chairman of the Okada Riders Association in the state, Mr Kunle Asaolu, confirmed that the deceased was a member of the association assigned to the area.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Ekiti Command, DSP Sunday Abutu, also confirmed the incident and said that the command had commenced an investigation.

The body has been deposited at the morgue of the Ekiti State Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH) in Ado-Ekiti.
