No fewer than four natives of Mangu local government area  of Plateau State  have been killed by suspected bandits while clearing Gudum forest along Gindiri road for the establishment of a new camp for soldiers.

The victims were engaged by soldiers on Monday to clear the bush but were  shot  shortly after the Army personnel left them to continue with the work.

Among the victims, two were  from one family as sources revealed that the attackers are suspected Fulani militias.

The small bush forest located in Gundum community of Tyop village Mangu LGA, one of the villages that the inhabitants were displaced this year by  ravaging gunmen.

The displaced Tyop village  has  been occupied by the attackers making the area unsafe for the natives to return  to their respective homes.

Mr Jerry Datim of Human Right Watch and Rescue, told Daily Sun that the incident has thrown the displaced families into another circle of trauma.

“It is true that four people were killed on Monday, the incident happened shortly after the Gindiri road checkpoint at Gudum forest which is known for notorious operations of criminals along the Gindiri road.

“The soldiers launched a manhunt of the attackers inside the forest, but we are yet to received any meaningful development at the moment. But we want the soldiers to bring those perpetrators to book.” He explained

This is coming barely one week when some women were attacked and macheted leaving the intestines of one of the victim outside on their farms while harvesting groundnuts in Mangu LGA.

The Media and Information Officer of the Special Force Operation Safe Haven on Hakorin Damisa IV Captain Jame Oya could not reacted to the unfortunate development when contacted as his lines has been busy as at the time of filling this report.
