Gunmen in the early hours of yesterday (December, 17), resumed their attack on government properties in Imo State razing a part of the High Court in Orlu, a stone throw from security checkpoint in the area.
A reliable source from the community told our correspondent that the gunmen who came in their numbers besieged the court premises which also housed the magistrate court and threw Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) which razed a vehicle parked there as well as burning a part of the building.
A source who confirmed the incident to our correspondent regretted that the incident would setback the court’s duties as most of the files it housed were burnt.
Orlu branch chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) Barnabas Munonye confirmed the incident saying “I learnt of it when the administrative secretary of our branch called to inform me.”
The state spokesperson of the police, Michael Abattam, also confirmed the incident to our correspondent.
Recall that the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) office on Port Harcout road was attacked on December,1 while that of Oru West was razed on December,4.
