A Catholic priest of Nnewi diocese in Anambra State, Rev. Fr Stanislaus Mbamara, has been kidnapped.
The Chancellor, Diocese of Nnewi, Rev. Fr Raphael Ezeogu, in a statement, said the priest who is also a student of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, was said to have been kidnapped on Saturday evening, on his way from Awka to Nnewi.
“Let’s storm heaven with humble and insistent prayers for his quick release in sound health of mind and body. May the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Help of Christians, pray with and for us,” the release read.
When contacted, the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga (DSP), said his office was not informed of the incident at the time of filing this report.
