The Etsako East Local Government chairperson, Princess Benedicta Attoh, has inaugurated a support group, Edo Voice Movement (EVM), for the electoral victory of the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Asue Ighodalo.

Inaugurating the ward coordinators of the support group for Edo North in her office on Wednesday, she stressed that Edo elections would not be about the federal might, but about the people’s might.

She declared that the PDP would win the governorship election in September.

“We may not have money, but we have the people. We are unconcerned about federal might because the Federal Government does not vote. This election is all about the people’s might. Let no one doubt it, I can assure you that Asue Ighodalo will be the next Governor.

“The strength of a fish is the strength of the river. I am speaking confidently because I am standing on your shoulders as my foot soldiers, the giant in the field to make us realise our goals,” she said.

The council boss tasked the members and newly inaugurated ward coordinators to work as a team, saying, “Together everyone achieves more, rather than working independently.”

Princess Attoh, who described Ighodalo and his running mate, Osarodion Ogie, as vessels chosen by God to help the common man and Edo State, said the two were not accidental candidates or mistakes, but rather God’s chosen.

She described Ighodalo as an epitome of humility, stressing that anyone who wants good governance and the development of Edo State should support  him by setting aside all political interests and praying for him and Ogie. “The rumour of Ighodalo’s disqualification should strengthen your resolve to support the PDP, because sticks and stones are only thrown at fruit-bearing trees. “If the opposition had nothing to fear, they would not have been spreading rumours. Be fortified by their noise and do not be discouraged.  Asue Ighodalo and Osarodion Ogie are God’s project,” she said.

Earlier in their presentation, the Edo North Coordinator of the EVM, Pastor Peter Igbogo, thanked Princess Attoh for her sacrifices for the group, saying her passion for the Ighodalo project and prompt intervention to issues led the group to adopt her as the patron of the support group.

“We are standing on your shoulder, and whatever results you expect from this group, we will exceed them in terms of canvassing for support for the PDP candidate.”

He maintained that the group, which focuses on culture and religion, has been visiting various cultural groups and religious organisations, such as churches and mosques, to drum support for the PDP candidate, and that the inauguration of the ward coordinators by the chairman, will help the group expand its scope in order to achieve their goals.
