Guala Closures, a leading manufacturer of closures for spirits, wine, water, beer, non-alcoholic beverages and edible oils, officially inaugurated its new greenfield facility yesterday in the Lagos Free Zone recently. The ceremony in Lagos was graced by Ugo Boni, Consul General of Italy; Adesuwa Ladoja, CEO of the Lagos Free Zone; Andrea Lodetti, CEO of Guala Closures; and other Group executives.

Spanning nearly 5,000 m², the plant was completed in a record 22 weeks and became operational at the end of 2024. It will supply West African markets with anti-counterfeiting safety closures—featuring innovations tailored specifically to regional needs—and is set to generate significant employment opportunities as it expands in the coming years.

Building on successful operations in Kenya and South Africa—including the recent acquisition of Astir Vitogiannis’s Johannesburg facility—Guala Closures has chosen Nigeria, Africa’s most populous nation, for its next strategic investment. With over 235 million people and a median age of 18, Nigeria’s rapidly growing middle class and rising demand for premium beverages present immense potential. The new Lagos plant will enable Guala Closures to serve both local businesses and global brands with high-quality, customized solutions.
