A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Centre Against Injustice And Domestic Violence (CAIDOV) in conjunction with stakeholders against Gender-based Violence, at a round table conference in Lagos recently called for an end to domestic violence and child abuse.
CAIDOV, led by Comrade Gbenga Soloki, harped on the need for the society to protect children from abuse, applying the right attitude and making use of enabling laws to curb the menace.
Participants at the round conference included President, Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR), Comrade Debo Adeniran, Hon. Valentine Buraimoh, Chairman, Amuwo Odofin Local Government, Dr (Mrs) Adeyinka Wulemat Olarinmoye of the Department of Tourism and Hospitality, Lagos State University (LASU), President, Women Arise, Dr Joe Odumakin, Mrs Aderonke Oyelakin, Lagos State Co-Ordinator, Child Protection Network, and Barrister Abass Oyeyemi among others.

Making his contribution during the programme, Hon. Buraimoh stressed that women and the girl child must be protected from all forms of abuse
Comrade Debo Adeniran,, who was Chairman of the event, lamented the incessant harassment and abuse of the girl child by pedophiles, charging the mothers to be sensitive of their growing child.
All the speakers agreed that the menace was on the increase. They, therefore, called for more vigilance, while also urging relatives of the victims to report such cases to the appropriate quarters.
