The EGO Foundation has convened Special Assistants to Chairmen on Wealth Creation from the 57 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Lagos State to strengthen grassroots economic development and expand access to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
The engagement, facilitated with the support of the Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos State Governor on Wealth Creation and Employment, Ambassador Comrade Tijani Saheed Oluwadare (Seedorf), was aimed at aligning local government efforts with the state’s wealth creation and employment agenda.
The meeting brought together wealth creation aides from across the state to explore strategies for expanding TVET programmes, promoting entrepreneurship, creating employment opportunities, and improving the implementation of socio-economic development initiatives at the grassroots.
Speaking during the event, Executive Director of EGO Foundation, Toluwase Olaniyan, stressed the importance of local governments in driving sustainable economic growth, describing them as the engine room of community development.
According to him, meaningful economic transformation can only be achieved when opportunities for skills acquisition, enterprise development, and job creation are extended to communities across the state.

“The future of inclusive economic growth lies in empowering local institutions to deliver impact where it matters most. By working together, we can ensure that every local government becomes a hub for skills development, innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable livelihoods,” Olaniyan said.
Also speaking, Ambassador Tijani Saheed Oluwadare reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s commitment to building a productive and self-reliant population through sustained investment in human capital development and vocational skills.
He noted that wealth creation offices at the local government level play a critical role in implementing state policies, identifying economic opportunities within communities, and connecting residents with programmes that promote employment, entrepreneurship and improved livelihoods.
Participants also discussed ways to strengthen collaboration among local governments, development partners, private sector organisations and civil society groups to accelerate the implementation of TVET initiatives and create sustainable employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for youths and women.
The meeting was held at The Enterprise Hive, EGO Foundation’s innovation and enterprise hub designed to support entrepreneurs, equip young people and women with employable skills, and promote enterprise development and workforce readiness.
Participants described the engagement as timely, noting that stronger coordination between state and local government institutions would enhance the delivery and sustainability of wealth creation programmes across the 57 councils.
The foundation said the initiative underscores its commitment to working with government, development partners and the private sector to promote technical and vocational education, entrepreneurship, employability and inclusive economic development in Lagos State and across Nigeria.
