From Laide Raheem, Abeokuta
The Yewa Youth Pacesetters (YYP) has commended the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr Iziaq Kunle Salako, for distributing food items and bags of fertilisers to the people of Ogun West during the yuletide.
The group also applauded the Minister for organising a medical outreach, where people in the five local government areas in Ogun West got free medical checks and drugs.
The YYP gave the commendation in a statement signed by its President, Dapo Fasola, yesterday, in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
Fasola noted that the 1,300 bags of rice and 600 bags of fertilisers facilitated by the minister and distributed to the people and farmers across Ogun West, would go a long way in giving succour to the beneficiaries during the festive period.
He added that bags of fertiliser would equally boost farming and enhance food security in the senatorial district and beyond.
He expressed delight that since his appointment as a minister by President Bola Tinubu, he has remained one of the best performing ministers; a feat he noted has brought honour to the people of Ogun West in particular, and Ogun State, in general.
He said that apart from distinguishing himself in the Federal Executive Council, the Minister has not lost touch with the grassroots, pointing out that he has continued to make Ogun West proud with his sterling performance in office.
Fasola, who noted that it has been over two decades an indigene of Ogun West was appointed a minister, stressed that Salako’s appointment had bridged the gap of marginalisation through his performance in office.
“As a socio-cultural group, comprising mainly the youths in Ogun West, the YYP commends the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr Iziaq Kunle Salako, for bringing these palliatives home to our people, particularly, during this festive period. We equally commend him for organising the free medical outreach, where people from all the five local government areas in Ogun West were given medical checks and drugs.
“We want to particularly commend Dr Salako for the orderly manner the distribution of the items was carried out in all the local governments without any chaos or stampede.
“The YYP is hereby expressing delight at the performance of an indigene of Yewaland as a minister in the cabinet of President Tinubu. It is a thing of pride for us that someone from our axis is rated as one of the best performing ministers in the Federal Executive Council (FEC). First, as a Minister of Environment and Ecological Management, he demonstrated his capabilities as an astute administrator. And now as the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, he is also not found wanting.
“Though it has been over two decades an indigene of Ogun West was appointed a minister, Salako has indeed bridged the gap of this interregnum with his sterling performance, both in office and at the grassroots.
“Therefore, the YYP urges our people in Ogun West to continue to support and pray for the minister, who has not only made us proud, but also kept in touch with his people back home,” the statement read in parts.
