The Nigerian Institute For Oil Palm Research (NIFOR) Childhood Friends of 1979-1983 Association has honoured a Nigerian comedian, Mr. Lawrence Osarenkhoe, aka MC Casino, for placing the community that nurtured him on the world map.
The group also honoured Prof. Matthias Ekpu, for being one of the youngest professors. Others are Mr Frederick Owobu, Innocent Ekpu, Ubara Eloho Usiwo, Isidahomen Okpeaifoh, Innocent E.Ujadughele, Innocent O. Okotubu, Osaze Agbonifo, Templa Ojieabu, Osarumwense Aikhionbare, Maureen Mgbeze-Aghedo, Kelvin Dako, Bruno Dennis, Chinedu Ossai, Sandra Ndudi Chikere, Binta Innih, Amb. Wilson Ekhomogiazin and Ifeoma Emenike.
The group’s President, Mr. Etinosa Ekhomogiazin, who explained the essence of the awards during a get-together ceremony in Benin, said it was to remind them that their contributions to the development of the society was highly recognized and appreciated by all and sundry.

He noted that Innocent Ekpu had contributed his quota to the welfare of the less privileged in the society.
Mr. Ekhomogiazin further called for patience from those who were not nominated for this year’s award, adding that they still stand a better chance of being nominated in subsequent years.
“To award recipients for today’s event, you have all shown capacity and support to this group.
“Thus, you all merit the award in your respective honour. Those not nominated for an award this year, I call for patience and more dedication,” he stated.
