From Laide Raheem, Abeokuta
A political group in Ogun State, the Omoluabi Movement, has unveiled 27 brand new buses to enhance mobilisation for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and other All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in the state.
The group also expressed support for Governor Dapo Abiodun’s senatorial ambition and the emergence of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola as the next governor of the state.
In a statement signed by its convener, Armstrong ‘Tope Akintunde, and made available to journalists in Abeokuta by the Director of Media and Publicity, Oluseun Joshua, the group said the buses would strengthen grassroots mobilisation across the state.
According to the statement, the buses would support political outreach and encourage active participation among the over 30,000 members of the Omoluabi Movement across the three senatorial districts in the state.
Akintunde said the vehicles had already been deployed to boost coordination and grassroots support for the APC ahead of the 2027 poll.
“We began our mobilisation exercise a few days ago across Ogun State, deploying 27 buses to various communities. This effort is primarily focused on rallying support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and other APC candidates,” he said.
He, however, clarified that the Omoluabi Movement is not affiliated with any similarly named political group linked to a former governor of Osun State.
“The name ‘Omoluabi’ is a common Yoruba concept and not tied to any political figure. Our focus remains mobilising support for APC candidates in Ogun State, with plans for future expansion,” he said.
Akintunde added that the group aims to promote a political culture anchored on integrity, accountability, service and respect for democratic values.
“Our mission is to promote participatory democracy, good governance and sustained political engagement at the community level,” he said.
