The President of Mzough U Tiv, United Kingdom (MUTUK), Chief Victor Aleva, has condemned the assault on two Tiv persons by some soldiers in Abuja, calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure that justice is served. Chief Aleva, who made this call in a statement signed by the Publicity Secretary, Nadoo Jumboh, said the Executive Committee and members of MUTUK had seen the video which had been circulating widely in mainstream and social media, depicting the brutal assault on the two Tiv persons in Abuja.

“MUTUK condemns, in the strongest possible terms, this unjustifiable physical violence Mr Vershima Mker and Ms. Lami Jennifer Iorvihi were subjected to. This deplorable act of battery represents an alarming abuse of power and the violation of human rights.

“These actions are not only a personal affront to Mr. Mker and Ms. Iorvihi, who deserve justice and redress, but serve as a stark reminder of the dangers posed when those entrusted with authority misuse their positions to intimidate and harm the citizens they are meant to defend and protect.”

He said the alleged actions of the military personnel are a betrayal of the values of discipline and accountability that the armed forces are sworn to uphold.

MUTUK called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to direct the Acting Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede to immediately commence a transparent and impartial investigation into this distressing incident with the assurance that justice would be served.
