A group known as Mbagewn Elders’ Forum has condemned the killing of children, women and innocent people as well as wanton destruction of property in the recent herdsmen attacks in Guma and Logo Local Government Areas of Benue State.

Rising from its general meeting held recently, the Forum described the action of the herdsmen as terrorism, ethnic cleansing and genocide against the Benue people stressing that it was not communal clash as being alleged by the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris.

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Elder Emmanuel Andza and Secretary, Godwin Nyigba and made available to Daily Sun, the Forum threw its weight behind Governor Samuel Ortom in his efforts at bringing the carnage to an end.

“We fully support the efforts of Governor Samuel Ortom led administration aimed at achieving enduring peace particularly the anti open grazing law of Benue State. The forum commiserate with the government of Benue State and bereaved families over the endless killing of their loved ones.”

The Forum also appealed to the state government to as a matter of urgency, prevail on the federal government to deploy security agents to the border areas of Mbagwen in Guma and Makurdi local government areas following information about a steady build up of suspected Fulani herdsmen in the area planning to attack the people.
