The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is preparing to reconstitute some of its standing committees following the mass resignation of its board members in August 2026, with Barrister Christopher Green emerging as a potential replacement for Sharif Rabiu Inuwa, popularly known as Ahlan, as chairman of the Technical Committee, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Other committees expected to be affected include the Referees Appointment Committee and the Arbitration Committee, as the federation moves to address the administrative vacuum created by the departure of its former leadership.
A top NFF official, who spoke to BSN Sports on condition of anonymity, disclosed that the federation was making arrangements to announce new members of the affected committees, even as Nigerian football stakeholders await FIFA’s decision on the proposed Normalisation Committee.
According to the official, the NFF considers it necessary to fill the vacant positions to ensure that essential football administration responsibilities continue while discussions over the federation’s future leadership remain ongoing.
Green’s reported emergence as a potential Technical Committee chairman would mark another significant chapter in his involvement in Nigerian football administration.
The lawyer has previously served in various NFF capacities, including as chairman of the Players’ Status Committee and vice-chairman of the Legal Committee under earlier administrations.
His experience within the federation could prove valuable if he is eventually appointed to head the Technical Committee.
Sharif Inuwa was the immediate past chairman of the NFF Technical Committee before the leadership crisis that followed the mass resignations in August 2026.
He was appointed to the position when the NFF, under former president Ibrahim Musa Gusau, announced the composition of its standing and ad hoc committees on August 8, 2023.
The committee was responsible for providing technical direction for Nigeria’s national teams, including advising on coaching appointments and the development of strategies to improve the country’s football programmes.
Under the 2023 composition, Chief Felix Anyansi-Agwu served as vice-chairman, while other members included Aminu Balele Kurfi, Zanna Mohammed Mala, Victor Ikpeba, Felix Owolabi Akinloye and Yinka Olagbemiro. The NFF’s Technical Director, Augustine Eguavoen, served as secretary.
The committee was inaugurated on August 29, 2023, with Gusau charging its members to provide direction for the national teams and contribute to the development of Nigerian football.
