Greatest World Championship Moments : Amusan’s 2022 Oregon feat listed as WA opens voting

Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan’s 100m hurdles world record feat at the 2022 World Championship in Oregon USA is occupying pride of place among the 40 greatest moments in athletics history listed for voting by the World Athletics.

Amusan broke the world 100m hurdles record in her semifinal with 12.12. Later that evening showing her world record was no fluke, she won the final with a marginally wind-assisted 12.06.

On April 11, 2023, World Athletics opened the voting portals for fans of the sport to choose their greatest moments as part of the activities to celebrate the 40 years existence of the World Athletics Championships.

World Athletics is wooing fans to win a trip for two people – including flights, accommodation and tickets for the first weekend of action to the World Athletics Championships Budapest 23 (19-27 August) by casting their votes.

From 18 World championship women events spanning from Helsinki 1983, Rome 1987,Stuttgart 1991 till Oregon 2022, were listed for fans were urged to choose their 10 favourite moments from both the women’s and men’s long lists.

“Simply choose your 10 favourite moments from both the women’s and men’s long lists. Be sure to read the long lists in full before making your selections, as you’ll only be able to vote once. One lucky winner for the trip to Budapest will then be drawn at random”, World Athletics wrote on their website.
