A medical establishment, Grandville Medical and Laser, has shown support to Lagos Business School (LBS) Deans’s Cup football tournament with cash and medical services.
The event which was held recently in Lagos saw Grandville presenting a donation of 1 million naira towards the team’s endeavors, alongside providing essential medical assistance. Their invaluable contributions ensured the players’ well-being and safety throughout the match, underlining the importance of health and medical support in sporting events.
LBS is the graduate business school of Pan-Atlantic University, owned by the Pan-Atlantic University Foundation (PAUF), a non-profit foundation registered in Nigeria. LBS was founded on inspirations from the teachings of St Josemaria Escrivá, the founder of Opus Dei.
In past years, Lagos Business School (LBS) has been known for its exciting addition to society through it’s Deans’s Cup football tournament.
This year, Grandville Medical and Laser, a distinguished medical establishment renowned for its unwavering commitment to health and wellness, made a significant contribution to the EMBA 29 class’s Dean’s Cup journey.
The Dean’s Cup Tournament sprang into action on a vibrant April 20th, 2024, with an electrifying clash between the EMBA 29 class, hailed as the “DREAM TEAM,” and their opponents, the MMBA 5 class, known as the “ENERGY TEAM.” Despite encountering a stumbling block in player availability, the stage was set for an unforgettable showdown.
As the match approached its scheduled start time of 4:30 pm, a hiccup in team personnel from the EMBA 29 class delayed kick-off until 5 pm, granting a window for additional players to bolster their lineup. The Dream Team found themselves in a daunting position, starting with a numerical disadvantage of 11 versus 7 against the Energy Team, whose ranks swelled with a full squad and ample substitutes.
Undeterred by the odds stacked against them, the Dream Team forged ahead, led by the unwavering determination of their captain Seyi Akingba and the steadfast defense of Gabriel Ademilokun. The players showcased versatility and grit, adapting to roles on the field with grace and resilience.
Despite being outnumbered, the Dream Team showed resilience and adaptability on the field, with Gabriel scoring a crucial goal to level the score. The match intensified into a thrilling penalty shootout, with players like Kenneth, Edafe, and Emeka stepping up. In a dramatic sudden death round, Iyke and Wale sealed the victory for the Dream Team, advancing them to the semifinals. In a twist, the Dream Team’s strategic adjustments in the second half paid dividends, culminating in a sensational goal by Gabriel that brought the scoreline level. The crowd stood in jubilation as the Dream Team’s offensive efforts breathed new life into the game, setting the stage for an epic comeback!”
