Gowon, Jonathan, others for BSN African leadership initiative conference

The Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN) will host the 11th edition of the Conference of African Leadership Biblical Initiative (ABLI) in Abuja.

The conference, themed, ‘Value-Based Leadership: Model for Africa,’ will be held at the Nigerian Airforce (NAF) Conference Centre, Abuja, from Monday, October 21- to 24, 2024.

At a media briefing in Lagos recently, the General Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of Bible Society of Nigeria, Pastor Samuel Sanusi, noted that the African Leadership Biblical Initiative (ABLI) was birthed in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, at a special session of African Union prayer breakfast by African Heads of States and Governments in 2010. It aimed to raise a generation of principled leaders with honour, integrity, capacity, and competence to institute qualitative transformation of nations through value-based leadership, informed and inspired by biblical values.

Former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, is the chairman of the conference while Senator Oluremi Tinubu will be the special guest of honour.

Other distinguished guests include General Yakubu Gowon (retd), Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, Minister of the FCT as the host. Delegates within and outside Africa are expected at the event.

Keynote speakers at the event are Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng, former Chief Justice of South Africa, and Dr. Zienzi Dillon, founder and CEO, Carmel Global Capital, New York. The plenary session with the theme, ‘Values of social harmony, justice, integrity, and wisdom,’ will be moderated by Mrs. Juliet Binitie, Director of Programmes, Institute for National Transformation, Lagos, Prof. Mike Ozekhome, Justice Catherine Bamugemereire, Justice of the Supreme Court of Uganda and Dr. Vishal Mangalwadi, social reformer and christian philosopher.
