Organizers of Governor’s Para-Swimming Classic, has unfolded plans for 40 para-swimmers who will be privileged to benefit from a five-day scientific training and analysis program capable of inspiring Nigeria to greater height.

This was revealed by convener, Vice President, Para-swimming, Bose Kaffo at a media parley staged ahead of the program scheduled for March 17-22, 2025 at the National Stadium, Lagos.

Speaking on the secret behind the program, Bose Kaffo noted that the training is organized to help train swimmers scientifically in order to give their best while representing the country in a major tourney. She however highlighted swimmers will be exposed to resistance, endurance and physiological aspects of the game while stating that all hands are on deck to ensure a successful campaign.

In her words: “We’re honouring the spirit of sports with this great program. We found out our para-swimmers are lagging behind in areas of resistance, endurance and physiological aspects of their welfare. All this will be exposed to them in the course of the exercise. We have upper link, lower link and intellectual amputees, this three categories of people will benefit more from the program. All we need is 40 to 45 swimmers who are ready to make impact by improving the system.”

“The door is open for all and we’ll be going the extra mile tabling fifty percent of their transportation. We’ll also have doctors and ambulances on standby for safety reasons and I can assure you it’s going to end with lots of awards and prizes,” she stated.

In a similar vein, President, Nigeria Paralympics Federation, Sunday Odebode drummed support stating the federation will do the needful in ensuring ‘person of determination’ enjoys their stay.

“In our clime, we address these athletes as P.O.D, meaning “person of determination”. As a federation, we have a lot of plans for them and I can assure you we’ll be luring the Nigeria Sports Commission to further give the exercise the leverage it deserves. I’m glad to reveal we’re working round the clock to make sure things go well as planned,” he assured.

Meanwhile, former President, Nigeria Aquatic Federation, Babatunde Fatai-Williams also applauded the organizers for powering such program despite the global economic difficulties.
