Kano State government has accused the opposition party, All Progressives Congress (APC) of sponsoring the thugs and hoodlums who  hijacked the protest in the state.

In a statement  by his spokesperson,  Bature Dawakin-Tofa, the governor, lamented  that certain individuals, whom he described as enemies of the  state , had hired thugs within and from neighboring states to disrupt the initially planned peaceful protest, causing chaos and unrest in one of the most peaceful states in the country.

“We are aware that unpatriotic politicians from the opposition party have sponsored thugs, who are on  rampage, looting and destroying properties of innocent citizens”

The Governor ordered security agencies to immediately investigate and arrest  those involved in  turning the protest into violence and their  sponsors.

He also urged the leaders of the protest to continue educating the public on the importance of peaceful coexistence and using appropriate channels to voice their concerns, to ensure stability and harmony.

He highlighted the efforts of his administration in mitigating the economic hardships caused by the removal of fuel subsidies, including various palliatives and empowerment initiatives.

Three leaders of the protesters, Abulmajid Yakubu, Malam Abubakar Ali and Amina Bello, spoke during the presentation of the demands of the protesters to the Governor.

They conveyed the grievances of the state’s residents regarding the economic difficulties facing the nation, which have made life challenging for many Nigerians.

They called for adjustments to the Federal Government’s economic policies to improve the quality of life for Nigerians.
