Governor Makinde’s brother to be laid to rest on Friday

The family of the late Engr. Olufunmilayo Sunday Makinde, the eldest brother of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, has announced that he will be buried on Friday, February 7, 2025.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the family detailed the funeral arrangements, which will commence on Thursday, February 6, with a Service of Songs at the Remembrance Arcade, Ibadan, at 5 p.m.

The funeral service will take place on Friday at 10 a.m. at the Bishop Akinyele Memorial Anglican Church, Iwo Road, Ibadan, and will be strictly by invitation. The interment will follow at the Eternal Home, Km 25, Ibadan-Oyo Road, and will be attended only by family members.

A reception will be held at the Ibadan Recreation Club, Adamasingba, after the interment.

The final event in honor of the late Makinde will be a Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, February 9, at the Cathedral of St. Peter, Aremo, Ibadan, starting at 10 a.m.

Engr. Olufunmilayo Sunday Makinde passed away at the age of 65 on Friday, January 24, 2025. The family expressed their submission to God’s will and requested prayers and support during this time.
