There is indeed no doubt that Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru is among the best-performing governors in the country in virtually all the sectors. The former Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly became the governor of the state on May 29, 2023. Since then, he has been intentional and methodical in the overall development of the state. He has recorded uncommon strides in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, social welfare and empowerment sectors, among others.
The governor has remarkably done so much under his People’s Charter of Needs agenda. This vision has informed his areas of focus and prompt attention to the needs of Ebonyi people and residents in the state. With his People’s Charter of Needs agenda, the action governor’s goal is apparently in line with the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The 17 goals, ranging from eradicating poverty and hunger to climate action, justice and partnerships, serve as blueprint to end poverty, protect the environment and ensure peace for everyone by 2030.
Ebonyi, under Nwifuru, is moving quickly with determination to achieve these goals with his people-centred administration. Any government that prioritizes the needs of the people is moving in the right direction. There is enough evidence to show that Nwifuru adequately prepared himself for his present role. He is very desirous to develop the state with actionable timelines. He has done a lot in housing, basic education, environment, transport, social welfare and empowerment, infrastructure and others. His predecessor and current Minister of Works, David Umahi, did a lot in this area, too. But Nwifuru has turned the state into a huge construction site. The roads are so many that only a few can be listed in this article. Those conversant with the geography of Ebonyi State can testify to the road infrastructure renewal under Nwifuru.
