Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, has urged the people of Igbo Eze North, especially the traditional rulers, councillors and presidents-general to take serious interest in the ongoing projects in their various communities.
The governor gave the charge during a one-day visit to the local government.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Chidiebere Onyia, the Governor emphasised the need to sustain regular monitoring of the ongoing projects, including taking of photographs and video-graphs of the projects, at least thrice a week and forwarding such records to Government House Enugu, for necessary action.
He noted that it was the primary responsibility of the people to effectively monitor the progress of work by contractors, provide guidance and facilitate collaboration among stakeholders, to guarantee the successful execution of the smart school projects and others projects within the agreed time frame with the state government and the contractors.
He expressed disappointment with some contractors, who have slowed down the smart school projects; a development he lamented would affect the commencement of academic work in those schools in the September 2025 academic session as earlier projected by the state government.
He commended the chairman of Igbo Eze North LGA, Uche Michael Ogalla, and his deputy, Joe Abah, for their exemplary leadership, adding that the people of Igbo Eze North did not make a mistake in electing the chairman and his deputy.
Earlier in his address, Ogalla has said that the state was very lucky to have Dr. Mbah as its Governor.
The council chair described as unprecedented the way and manner Governor Mbah was turning all sectors of the economy in the state around for the benefit of the people through his disruptive innovation philosophy. He added that the people of the local council have received the larger portion of the democracy dividend from Mbah’s administration.
