The statement reads in part: “The governor is deeply saddened by the incident, which is a result of the collapsed Namnai bridge along the Jalingo Wukari Federal Highway that has remained unattended for over a year since it collapsed.
“From initial findings, natural factors as well as human miscalculations all culminated in the unfortunate mishap, and lives were lost again due to a lack of life jackets.
“At moments such as this, it is always better to think of solutions and a way forward. Once again, the governor prays for the repose of the departed souls and to grant the bereaved families the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. Dr. Kefas used the opportunity to assure the Federal Government, through relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), that the Taraba State government is readily available for any partnership that will facilitate quick reconstruction of the bridge to ameliorate the plight of the people and forestall such unfortunate happenings.
