Kebbi state Governor, Dr Nasir Idris has announced the sum of N10,000 monthly allowances for Corps members serving across the state from N2,000 paid by previous administrations.
Idris announced this during the 2026 National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) management/ Corps employers’ workshop held in Birnin Kebbi.
While announcing the increments,Idris, represented by the Commissioner for Sports and Youths Development, Nurudeen Bala-Fingilla disclosed that all Corps members serving in the state would benefited irrespective of their locations of the places of primary assignments.
According to him, “I am happy to announce to you that His Excellency, Dr Nasir Idris has approved the increments of the Corps members serving in the state from N2,000 to N10,000. Any Corps members who is willing to stay in the state would benefited from this irrespective of your locations”.
Speaking on the workshop, Governor Idris explained that the workshop underscores the responsibility of all stakeholders in ensuring that Corps members are not only productively engaged, but also provided with a conducive,safe and supportive environment.
He said: ” the success of the NYSC scheme depends largely on the quality of collaboration among government, Corps employers, security agencies, traditional institutions, Community leaders and other critical stakeholders.
“As Corps employers,your role extends beyond providing places of primary assignments..you serve as mentors, guides and partner in shaping the future of our young graduates by creating workplaces that encourage learning, innovation, discipline and professional growth”.
In his remark,the Director General of NYSC,Brig-Gen. O. Nafiu, represented by the Acting Director, North West, Mrs.Eghieye Mary, explained that the workplace,serve as the primary platform for Corps members to acquire practical experience.
“It is therefore imperative that Corps Employers provide Corps members with meaningful job assignments relevant to their qualifications and capabilities. Equally important is the need to offer appropriate mentorship,supervision,and opportunities for professional growth.
“When Corps members are effectively integrated into the workplace,they become more motivated, innovative, and committed to delivering value to their host organisations and the society at large”.
Nafiu said, the NYSC management do apoteciates employers who consistently providing accomodations, transportation support,healthcare services, mentoring and other firms of assistance to the Corps members.
“Such efforts not only enhance the service experience of Corps members, but also contribute significantly to the overall success of the scheme.
“It is expedient to emphasize that the welfare of Corps members extends beyond physical needs. It encompasses their safety,mental well-being, professional development,inclusion, and sense of belonging within the workshop”.
The DG of NYSC urged employers to continue to foster workplaces that are respective, supportive,and free from all forms of discrimination, exploitation, harassment and abuse.
Earlier, the State Coordinator of NYSC in Kebbi,Mr. Bala Dabo-Kagarko explained that the idea behind the workshop was to exchange ideas, review collective responsibilities, identified challenges and develop strategies for improving the welfare, security and workplace experiences of Corps members across the state.
He commended all the participants for honoured the NYSC invitations and attended the programme for the benefit of all.
