Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has charged traditional title holders in the state to rededicate themselves to the service and development of their people, urging them to see their instalment as a call to selfless leadership.

The governor gave the charge at the turbaning ceremony of the Special Adviser on Security Matters, Colonel Ahmed Usman (rtd), who was installed as the Sadaukin Gwadabawa by the Sarkin Gobir Gwadabawa, His Royal Highness Alhaji (Dr.) Lawal Zayyana, at the monarch’s palace in Gwadabawa Local Government Area of the state.

Represented by the Commissioner for Interior, Hon. Isa Muhammad Tambagarka, Governor Aliyu prayed for Allah’s guidance for the new title holders and urged them to use their positions to promote unity, peace and grassroots development across the district.

He described the conferment of the traditional title as a recognition of integrity, sacrifice and commitment to public service.

The ceremony attracted traditional rulers, serving and retired senior military officers, heads of security agencies, lawmakers, political appointees and community leaders from within and outside the state.

In his remarks, the Sarkin Gobir Gwadabawa said the decision to confer the title of Sadauki on Colonel Usman was based on merit, proven integrity and outstanding contributions to the development and security of Gwadabawa District.

While speaking the Chairman of Gwadabawa Local Government Council described Colonel Usman as a people-oriented leader whose interventions in youth and women empowerment and community security have continued to positively impact the area.

Speaking on behalf of Special Advisers, the Chairman of the SAs Forum, Hon. Sunusi Tukur Faru, said the title of Sadauki is traditionally reserved for individuals known for bravery, dedication and loyalty to service, adding that the honour was well deserved.
