Sokoto State Governor, Ahmad Aliyu, has sworn in the Vice Chairman of Kebbe Local Government Area, Hon. Musa Garba Kuchi, as the substantive Chairman of the council, following the death of the elected Chairman, Abdullahi Yarima, a few months ago.
The swearing-in ceremony, held at the Government House in Sokoto, also featured the inauguration of the State Head of Civil Service, five Special Advisers, and twelve Permanent Secretaries, as the governor used the occasion to reiterate his administration’s focus on security, civil service reform, and prudent management of public resources.
Addressing the new Kebbe LG Chairman, Governor Aliyu charged him to lead with integrity and remain close to the people he was elected to serve. He urged himi to be accessible, honest, sincere and God-fearing, stressing the importance of residing within the local government area to effectively understand and respond to local needs.
The governor noted that Kebbe Local Government Area is among parts of the state facing security challenges and directed the new chairman to work closely with security agencies to improve safety, adding that regular security meetings to address threats and protect lives and property of the residents is paramount
He highlighted steps taken by his administration to boost civil servants’ morale, noting that salaries, gratuities, and pensions are now paid promptly. He also disclosed that the payment of imprest to Ministries, Departments, and Agencies had been restored to improve efficiency in government operations.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare, the governor said efforts were ongoing to provide a conducive working environment capable of supporting an efficient and productive workforce.
The governor also addressed the roles of the newly appointed Special Advisers and Permanent Secretaries, calling for a harmonious working relationship between both offices. While describing Special Advisers as political heads of their respective assignments, he emphasized that Permanent Secretaries remain the administrative heads of MDAs.

He said that all appointments were made strictly on merit and urged the appointees to discharge their duties with integrity and professionalism in line with the administration’s vision of a prosperous and renewed Sokoto State.
“As heads of your MDAs and accounting officers in your respective places of assignment, a lot is expected from you. You must ensure transparency, accountability, and good governance at all levels of your operations
“ Proper record-keeping must be maintained to leave behind a credible system”
He further stressed that his administration has zero tolerance for corruption, cautioning the appointees against mismanagement of public resources.
“This administration has zero tolerance for corruption. You must operate with transparency and accountability, and above all, allow the fear of Allah to guide your actions,” he stated.
Those sworn in as Special Advisers include Umar Babuga Oro, Faruku Labbo, Zainab Umar Dasuki, Kamaludden Abubakar Lemi, and Bashir Haliru Dogon Daji, while the twelve newly appointed Permanent Secretaries were also formally inaugurated during the ceremony.
