Minister  of Interior, Lt. –Gen. Abdulraman Dambazzau (rtd) has said that good and authentic education  is required  to ward-off unsuspecting young ones from insurgency.

The minister said although Borno State boasts of notable Islamic teachers, there was need to ensure that the right religious  teachings were promoted in the state.

Speaking at the special town hall meeting, in Maiduguri, Borno State capital, Danbazzau said the Federal Government was committed  to rebuilding the devastated region.

Also, Minister of State, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, said that 2018 would be a year of ‘return’ as many displaced persons would be returning to their homes.

Ahmed said the military  had been overstretched, hence, there was need for the police and National  Security  and Civil  Defence Corps (NSCDC) to cooperate and take up some  assignments so that the military  could attend to clearing of the mines.

She lamented the violation of women and children even sometimes by those that should take care of them.

The minister also decried the proliferation of non-governmental organisations  parading as humanitarian workers in the troubled region.

Though they were supposed to be registered by her Ministry, she said many of them found their way to the field without proper documentation.
