The Gombe state command of the Nigeria Police Force has announced the arrest of seven suspects and the seizure of several drugs. According to the Police, the arrest followed a raid that was carried out by the Police operatives attached to the Kaltungo division in collaboration with SIB operatives at a criminal hideout at the market square in Kalaring and Baganje in Kaltungo LGA of the state.
Addressing journalists while parading the suspects on Wednesday in Gombe, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) ASP Mahid Muazu Abubakar disclosed that exhibits recovered from the suspects include 19 blocks and 240 sachets of Indian hemp as well as 40 sachets of tramadol tablets and Military camouflage, short trouser and Face cap.
Mahid added that one empty shell of AK-7 decorated with charms, Two cutlasses, one stick, one dagger, two swords, two calabash, two knives, one axe, one roll of copper wire, five sachets of exzol tablets, two women wrappers were also recovered.
“Other exhibits include one charm vest, assorted charms, 582 pieces of exzol tablets, two cutlasses, and 100 pieces of yellow (D-5) tablets. Meanwhile, effort is ongoing to apprehend other accomplices in order to bring them to justice,” Mahid stated.
Speaking further the PPRO disclosed that the Command has also arrested two other suspects Muhammadu Garba 25yrs and Ibrahim Adamu 40yrs for criminal conspiracy, Kidnapping, and screening of the offender. He explained that on September 28, 2023, the police received a complaint that 14 unknown persons armed themselves with AK47 rifles and machetes invaded the residence of one Musa Abdullahi and forcefully kidnapped him to an unknown destination.
He said, “The perpetrators demanded a ransom of 1.8 million which was paid and they refused to release the victim. After a detailed investigation, it was revealed that the suspects knew the suspected kidnappers and revealed the plan of the police to the said kidnappers. They also admitted that the prime suspect Yau Saleh is a friend to the victim and met them earlier to tell them about his plans of kidnapping him. The case is still under investigation and will be charged to court upon the completion of the investigation”.
