The Gombe State Police Command has intensified the enforcement of traffic laws and road safety regulations across the state, warning that motorists and other road users who violate the rules will face strict sanctions.
The directive, which aligns with the policy of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, is aimed at tackling the growing disregard for traffic regulations that has contributed to congestion, road crashes, and the avoidable loss of lives and property.
In a press statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the Command said the renewed enforcement drive would target all categories of traffic offenders without exception.
According to the statement, vehicles found violating traffic laws will be impounded, while offenders may be prosecuted in line with existing legal provisions where necessary.
The Command stressed that serving security personnel are not exempt from the exercise, noting that anyone found contravening traffic regulations would be subjected to the same sanctions prescribed by law.

To ensure effective implementation, the Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Ahmed Chuso, directed all officers and personnel of the Command to maintain the highest standards of discipline and professionalism while carrying out the enforcement exercise. He also reminded police personnel that they are expected to comply fully with traffic laws and road safety regulations.
The Commissioner urged motorists, commercial drivers, tricycle and motorcycle operators, as well as other road users, to obey traffic rules, respect traffic signs, avoid dangerous driving practices, and cooperate with law enforcement officers.
He said strict adherence to traffic regulations remains essential to reducing road accidents, ensuring the free flow of traffic, and safeguarding lives and property across the state.
The Gombe State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to promoting public safety, maintaining order on the roads, and fostering a culture of responsible road use through sustained enforcement of traffic laws.
