The Gombe State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has extended warm Christmas greetings to journalists and residents of the state, urging sustained commitment to peace, unity, and professional excellence.
In a Christmas message issued by the Chairman of the union, Comrade Faruk Muazu, he congratulated the Christian faithful on the celebration, describing Christmas as a season that reinforces shared values of love, harmony, and mutual coexistence across religious and cultural lines.
Faruk underscored the strategic role of journalists in shaping public discourse, noting that the media remains a critical driver of peace, development, and democratic accountability in society. He charged journalists in the state to continue upholding the core principles of truth, fairness, justice, and responsibility in the discharge of their duties.
According to him, the power of the media lies not only in informing the public but also in educating and inspiring positive change, especially at a time when society grapples with complex social and governance challenges.
