From Abdulrazaq Mungadi, Gombe

Justice Fatima Musa of the Gombe State High Court has stepped down from a legal case involving Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya’s proposed Mechanic Village project due to allegations of trespass and land encroachment.

Emir General Integrated Limited filed a lawsuit claiming that Grandscope Construction Limited, contracted by the state government, began unauthorised work on its property near the Dankwambo Meta Motorpark in Gombe metropolis.

Justice Musa had earlier issued an interim order halting construction on the disputed land pending a motion hearing and allowed the government to join the case.

On Wednesday, Justice Musa unexpectedly withdrew from the case for personal reasons, stating that the case would be returned to the Chief Judge of the State for reassignment to another judge.

Barrister Daniel Tsaro, counsel for Grandscope Construction Limited, described the withdrawal as not uncommon and said his clients had no objections.

Meanwhile, Barrister Suleiman Abdulrahim, representing Emir General Integrated Limited, reaffirmed their commitment to pursuing the matter to its conclusion, regardless of the reassigned court.
