Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has approved the immediate disengagement of four of his aides over their alleged involvement in the physical assault of a serving councillor, Abdulrahman Abubakar Sheriff, who represents Shamaki Ward in Gombe Local Government Area (LGA).
According to a statement issued by Ismail Uba Misilli, the Director-General (Press Affairs), Government House Gombe, the affected officials are Adamu Abdullahi Danko, Senior Special Assistant II (Domestic); Garba Mohammed Mai Rago, Senior Special Assistant II (Political); Rabiu Sulaiman Abubakar, Senior Special Assistant II (Social Media); and Ali Ibrahim Baban Kaya, Senior Special Assistant II (Community Relations).
He explained that the decision was conveyed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, following the conclusion of investigations by a special committee constituted by the governor to probe the incident.
“According to the SSG, the committee’s findings, which were corroborated by reports from relevant security agencies, established sufficient grounds for the governor’s decisive action,” Misilli said.

He added that the governor directed that the disengagement takes immediate effect, adding that all affected aides must promptly hand over all government property in their possession to the appropriate authorities.
Reaffirming his administration’s stance, the governor declared a zero-tolerance policy for violence, misconduct, and abuse of office, stressing that no individual, regardless of position, will be shielded from accountability.
He warned that actions capable of disrupting public peace, undermining public trust, or tarnishing the integrity of government institutions would not be condoned under any circumstances.
The governor further assured the people of Gombe State of his administration’s unwavering commitment to the rule of law, accountability, and peaceful coexistence, noting that firm and timely decisions would continue to be taken to preserve the state’s stability and hard-won security gains.
